Meet ASME!

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) was founded in 1880 promoting the art, science and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers - Stony Brook University Chapter welcome all students, not just mechanical engineering majors, to attend our meetings and events in order to grow professionally and socially. Our organization is a great way to meet like-minded individuals and make friends you'll likely see in your classes for years to come. We host professional events that are typically mechanical engineering focused, such as workshops and panels, as well as social events for all students, including game nights and paint nights.

MISSON

The ASME Student Chapter at Stony Brook University strives to help students develop themselves professionally, and to familiarize students with the engineering industry by providing opportunities of exposure to real world applications. We also strive to promote a productive and challenging environment through competitions, workshops, monthly meetings, and mentoring opportunities, while also forming strong team connections.

GO BABY GO

Go Baby Go is a program created by Professor Galloway from the University of Delaware in 2007. The program revolves around the idea of modifying off the shelf ride on cars to allow children with limited mobility to successfully drive them independently. These modifications range from altering mechanical components, such as steering wheels, as well as electrical components if need be. Other modifications include the addition of padding and seating support to help the child sit safely and comfortably.
