Global Affairs Staff Updates
The Office of Global Affairs is delighted to welcome Floyd Haynes as our new Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration! Floyd came to Stony Brook University as a transfer student. Fast forward 16 years later, he has spent most of his time in management, designing and implementing efficient PeopleSoft solutions for the campus community. Prior to jo ining Global Affairs, he served as the Assistant Director of Student Accounts at Stony Brook, managing the university-wide billing, collection and audit of tuition and fees revenue. He is most proud of having stewardship over the PeopleSoft Student Financials architecture and the technology solutions created for the Intensive English Center, Visa and Immigration Services, International Academic Programs, SUNY Korea and a number of other campus units. Floyd holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a focus on Asian economies from Stony Brook University and a Master’s Degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy. When he’s not working, he cherishes family time with his wife and two little girls, Ellise and Isabelle, teaching them new and interesting things. His other interests include reading the WSJ and parsing a calculus text in search of a beautiful problem-set! We are also excited to announce that our own Meghan Behan has been appointed Director of Visa and Immigration Services! A graduate from the University of Rhode Island and Long Island University, Meg has worked in International Education since the start of her career in 2009. Beginning as volunteer in Stony Brook University’s Academic and Transfer Advising Services, later joining the university’s admissions team as an International Undergraduate Admissions Counselor, and most recently an International Student Advisor and Information Specialist in Visa and Immigration Services; Meg has shown a deep commitment to ensuring compliance with federal regulations and providing the highest level of support to our international students, scholars and staff. From her rapport with members of the campus community, to her extensive knowledge of F-1, J-1 and other employment-based statuses, and proficiency in Sunapsis and accessVIS, we are confident that Meg will bring the experience and ambition needed to develop and implement services that will continue to enhance the efficiency of Visa and Immigration Services and benefit our international students and scholars. |
