Christine Pash, PhD Candidate
Christine Pash (she/her/hers) is a Ph.D. Candidate in Critical Music Studies. Christine's
research asks about anti-oppressive curatorial and teaching strategies at institutions
like museums, archives and universities. Christine's dissertation discusses experiences
of presenting music, sound and other activities--both through museum-like institutions
like Smithsonian Folkways Recordings and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, and through
writing. Throughout, Christine's dissertation names strategies for best serving those
sharing their own work--particularly at institutions that invite people from beyond
founders' or staff members' communities to present what they do. Christine also organizes
with groups like the Graduate Student Employees Union (CWA 1104). She enjoys singing
and getting outdoors.
