1. Monthly Postdoc Coffee, Tomorrow, Tues, July 7, 9am

 
Join us for the monthly postdoc coffee to kick off your day and broaden your network at SBU. The coffee is held the first Tuesday of each month in the Graduate School Conference room in (old) Computer Science Suite 2401 from 9-10am.
 
We hope to see you there!
 

2. Sign Up to Present at SBU Postdoc Spotlight on Sept 17, 2015

 
Postdocs can now sign up to be a speaker at the upcoming SBU Postdoc Spotlight. Spotlight talks are eight minutes and designed like TED talks to share your research with a broad audience outside of your field.
 
Selected speakers will receive free training in effectively communicating their science from the nationally-recognized Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. Speakers must commit to two coaching sessions.

Speaker slots are limited, so sign up now. Once selected, speakers will be asked to submit a talk title and short abstract designed with a lay audience in mind.

3. Grad & Postdoc Southampton Writing Retreat, July 20-24, 2015

 
Keep Calm and Write AwayThere is still time to sign up for the Center for Inclusive Education’s four-day writing retreat to be held at Stony Brook’s Southampton campus on July 20-24, 2015. This retreat will be an opportunity for graduate students and postdocs to get away for focused writing time to work on a dissertation, manuscript, proposals or fellowship applications.
 
Registration Cost: $300
 
Registration Includes:
  • 2 Writing Workshops
  • Single Dorm Unit with Kitchen (Linens Included)
  • One-On-One and Group Writing Sessions
  • WiFi and Printer Access
  • Student Center Access
