Broad Based Fees (Comprehensive Fee)

The Comprehensive Fee, composed of the Academic Excellence & Success Fee, College Fee, Student Health Services Fee, Technology Fee, Lifetime Career Development Fee, and the Transportation Fee is mandatory for all professional medical students.

*Required Medical Student Health Insurance

All full-time domestic students at Stony Brook are automatically billed for the University Health Insurance plan at the beginning of each semester.

The cost of this insurance is $2,336.29 for Fall 2024.
The cost of this insurance is $3,237.21 for Spring25/Summer25.

The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is applicable to domestic students. The International Student Health Insurance is applicable to all International Exchange, Research & Study Programs.

If a student already has comparable health insurance coverage through a job or through a relative's insurance plan, a waiver of the required insurance may be completed online through SOLAR.

Late Fees

Late Registration Fee

The late registration fee is assessed to students who register on or after the first day of classes. This fee is $50.00. Please see the academic calendar for more information regarding this charge.

Late Payment Fee

A late fee is charged each month your semester bill remains unpaid or is not deferred by financial aid. This charge is assessed on or after the 15th of each month. This is charged at a rate of up to $50 each month, and up to $200 per semester.

Professional Program of Dietetic Internship

Program Fee: $12,750.

Class Start Date:  7/10/23 (distance)   9/6/23 (on-site)

Class End Date:  4/26/24 (distance)   6/7/24 (on-site)

Payment Due Date (Program Fee): 6/1/23 (distance)   8/1/23 (on-site). The enrollment will be cancelled if payments is not received by this due date.

Insurance Information

Health Insurance is required for this program. The Health Insurance fee covers the period August 15of the current year through August 15 of the next year. Students having comparable health insurance coverage may waive this health insurance by completing the online insurance waiver request in SOLAR.
