Mission
The SBU Department of Energy Management’s mission is to facilitate the efficient use of energy across the university’s 211 buildings and to educate the campus community in matters of energy conservation and sustainability. As part of this mission, the Department of Energy Management has implemented various methods and technologies designed to effectively monitor energy usage with an eye towards benchmarking building performance and the identification of trends. These methods also play a pivotal role in planning and strategizing for future energy conservation projects such as lighting retrofits, HVAC upgrades or metering projects.
