Princeton Review Green Guide

Stony Brook University has been named to Princeton Review’s Annual Green Guide to Colleges each year since its inception in 2009. 

 


 

Tree Campus USA

Stony Brook University has been recognized by The Arbor Day Foundation as a “Tree Campus USA” school for the past 8 years. The Tree Campus USA program recognizes college and university campuses that effectively manage trees and engage students.

  


 

Groundwater Guardian Green Site

Stony Brook University has been named by The Groundwater Foundation as a Groundwater Guardian Green Site each year since 2014. The Groundwater Guardian Green Site program recognizes green spaces for their groundwater stewardship.

 


 

 

2020 Smart Energy Decisions Innovation Award

Stony Brook University has been awarded a 2020 Innovation Award by Smart Energy Decisions, in recognition of the data analytics platform designed and used by the Office of Energy Management.

 


 

2020 Smart Energy Analytics Campaign Award

Stony Brook University was chosen as the recipient of a 2020 Smart Energy Analytics Campaign award under the category of Largest Portfolio Using an Energy Information System.

 


 

Bicycle Friendly University

SBU was classified as a Bronze recipient by the League of American Bicyclists in 2014 and was recently recertified as a Bicycle Friendly University until 2022.

 


 

Car Free Day LI

Car Free Day is an international event celebrated every September in which people are encouraged to get around without cars and instead ride a train, bus, bicycle, carpool, subway or walk. Stony Brook University has been an active participant  each year since 2013 and urges the campus community to pledge to be Car Free. Visit the official Car Free Day LI website here to make your pledge!
