Volunteer Opportunities by Interest

There are many opportunities to get involved in volunteer positions and service projects both on and off campus throughout Long Island and New York City. Opportunities can range from a commitment of a few hours a week to a full-time service position, and encompass all industries including healthcare, education, environmental, and more. Empire State Service Corps | Application TBA

We are excited to announce the launch of the Empire State Service Corps (ESSC), a new initiative designed to engage SUNY students in meaningful PAID public service work throughout the state. Students can apply through our newly launched Empire State Service Corps landing page and select the area they’d like to serve. 

  1. K-12 Tutoring: Supporting local school districts with tutoring to help students recover from pandemic-era learning losses.
  2. SNAP and Basic Needs Outreach:Assisting with SNAP outreach and supporting campus food pantries.
  3. Peer Mental Health Corps: Serving as trained peer mental health counselors on select campuses.
  4. Sustainability Corps: Working on sustainability initiatives such as recycling campaigns, tree planting, and pollinator gardens.
  5. Anti-Hate and Anti-Bias Corps: Partnering with local nonprofits to combat hate and bias in the community.
  6. Civic Engagement Corps: Focusing on nonpartisan voter outreach and civic engagement with local nonprofits.
  7. FAFSA Completion Corps: Supporting high school students and campus community members in completing FAFSA applications.
